Yes, for the sad anoraks amongst you (me included), this was the first time that the draw number (151) of the Extra draw was higher than the draw number (150) of the most recent Thunderball draw.
For almost 48 hours, Camelot claimed that the total prize pool for this draw was exactly £8,000,000. This didn't match the prize pool calculation formula (rollover amount + 45% of this draw's ticket sales) and was clearly an estimated jackpot. I calculated the prize pool from the formula instead and this was confirmed by Camelot to be correct late on Friday afternoon.
Unclaimed prizes from this draw expired at 11.00pm BST on Monday 21st October 2002 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
