Comments:
- The average prize was £20.35 and
one in every 53.5 tickets won a prize (=1.87% of players).
- Well, that's the end of Vernons Easy Play then (it has been scrapped and not a moment too
soon !). Amusingly, some retailers were confused about the closing date
and started turning potential Vernons Easy Play customers away on Saturday, saying that the
game had already ended !
- Final stats included an average jackpot of only £1,918.47 (not helped
by one of the weeks having 3,370 jackpot winners !), ticket sales that
started promisingly at over £1.5m, but ended disastrously (below
£200,000) and the draw experts crown being taken by Tranmere Rovers
with 12 Vernons Easy Play score draws.
- The UK public has overwhelmingly rejected this game (I've been saying
that it would be a flop from day one) and Vernons obviously decided to cut
their losses before the obscure Australian Rules football fixtures were due
to come into operation.
- For some reason, the Vernons Easy Play official Web site closed down its fixtures and
results service somewhat prematurely (over a week ago !), so I've been
unable to obtain the full fixtures list for this final week.
- Unclaimed prizes from this game expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 4th November 1999 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
