Comments:
- The draw used ball set SFL2 in the Excalibur 6 machine and the average prize was £ 8.40.
- From Saturday 12th July 2003 onwards, Camelot has completely refused to issue per-draw sales figures for any of their individual games,
despite continuously doing so for more than 8 years prior to that date. They blamed the media for only
concentrating on the main Lotto game sales (which have been falling steadily for years), which seems to be a poor excuse to me.
- No-one won the first ever draw's jackpot, which is £10,000 a month
for 30 years for a total of £3.6m. The 5-match tier also involves 10
grand monthly payouts, but this time only for a year, totalling £120,000.
- Several big problems with this game
sadly make it highly unattractive to many people:
- You can't opt for
a (possibly smaller) single lump sum payment like you can with many US
lotteries. If you die before getting all 360 monthly payments, there is
a lump sum payment then...to your estate!
- If you want to buy a "big ticket item" like a house, you'll
have to wait for years of payments before you can. If you want to splash out
on a £1m purchase, you'll have to wait 8 years and 4 months to get it!
- If you're over 50 years old when you buy your ticket, it's quite likely
you will die before receiving all your prize payments. This actually
technically makes the game ageist - it's for young people only really.
- Prizes won in this draw must be claimed within 180 days i.e. by 5.30pm BST on Saturday 14th September 2019.
