Comments:
- The draw used ball set T4 in the Excalibur 3 machine
- The average prize was £ 8.12.
One in every 19.9 tickets won a prize (=5.02% of players).
- The first ever Thunderball draw was rattled through very
quickly during the TV show and was up against the 50th main UK lottery
rollover,
ironically with a jackpot 50 times bigger than the Thunderball's.
Neither the machine name nor ball set was announced (they have internal
names, but are not publicly revealed).
- All of Camelot's publicity leading up to this new Thunderball game
deviously failed to mention that the Thunderball jackpot doesn't rollover
(because it's the major failure in the rules of the Thunderball that
Camelot didn't really want to say too much about), so when the Thunderball
jackpot wasn't won in this debut draw, it was a major PR disaster.
It didn't help that five tickets won the main UK lottery jackpot
and each took away a prize ten times the size of the Thunderball
jackpot that wasn't even won in this draw.
- Unclaimed prizes from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 9th December 1999 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
