- Wednesday 31st October
Unlike last Saturday, tonight was reasonably busy in the chat room, despite
ITV1 having Manchester United soccer live on the other side during the lottery
show. No problems doing the live TV show commentary and draw, but Camelot
were a bit slow issuing the full results (some 45 minutes after the draw
took place), which allowed BBC teletext to sneak in a few minutes ahead of
me with the info. I did beat ITV teletext to the full results though.
- Saturday 27th October
It was a quiet night in the chat room tonight, with no-one
bothering to come in for the Thunderball draw at all (mind you, it is
a rubbish game !). No problems with the live TV show commentary
and draw, but Camelot took a ludicrous amount of time (some 75
minutes) to release the full results, which allowed ITV teletext
to update at about the same time as me.
- Wednesday 24th October
As is often the case, the lottery draw clashed with the live text
commentary I do for the official Liverpool FC site, so I was only
able to do a Web update tonight (live though) and not use the chat
room. Despite waiting until full time to phone Camelot (about 40 minutes
after the draw), I still beat ITV and BBC teletext to putting the
full results up.
- Saturday 20th October
The lottery show was only 10 minutes long tonight, although it
strangely started 30 minutes later than usual because of the
awful Star For A Night final. No problems with the live
TV show commentary and draw - the show actually announced the
number of main jackpot winners straight after the Extra draw
finished - was this the fastest they've ever managed to do this ?
I phoned up Camelot some 40 minutes after the draw and they
had the full results, which I put up before BBC and ITV teletext
managed to.
- Wednesday 17th October
Despite an exciting Manchester United live soccer game "on the other side"
(which United eventually lost 3-2 thanks to clown-like goalkeeping), several
users came into the chat room once the (3 minutes-late) lottery TV show
start. No problems with the draw in the chat room and I was the first to put
up the full results, despite some confusion about ITV Teletext's Web site
mixing the new date/numbers with last Saturday's prize amounts/winners
(so it made it look like a double rollover...oops !).
Slightly more annoying is that I checked last Saturday's numbers
by mistake tonight and thought I'd won £10 on my third ticket (because
I buy 2 extra tickets for rollovers), when I would have won it on Saturday
of course and hence didn't win my 24th prize tonight. Talk about
false alarms !
- Tuesday 16th October
Bought two more tickets for tomorrow's rollover draw.
- Saturday 13th October
I might have guessed that we'd have had some intermittent ISP
problems almost exactly coinciding with the lottery TV show.
It was bad enough for me to phone our ISP and get them to fix
it (which they did just as the lottery show ended !). I even
had to restart the lottery chat room because it seemed to hang
at the same time, possibly due to the bad Net connection.
It meant I couldn't do a live TV show commentary and draw in
the chat room, but I just about managed to do a live Web update
and generate update pages. I got the full main draw results
through just under an hour after the draw, though Camelot couldn't
tell me the rolled over amount (I reverse calculated it anyway)
or any of the Thunderball or Extra full results until about 15
minutes after the main results were issued. Despite all of these
problems, I still beat ITV and BBC teletext to the full resuls.
- Wednesday 10th October
As usual, Wednesday nights usually means ITV1's Champions League
soccer that clashes with the lottery draws, plus it didn't help
that the lottery show started 5 minutes late (no doubt the Afghan
situation caused news programmes to overrun). No problems with the
TV show commentary and draw in the chat room, plus I was the first
to put up the full results (about 40 minutes after the draws).
- Saturday 6th October
The chat room was moderately busy tonight (at least around the draws anyway)
and there was no problem with the TV commentary and draws in there. Camelot took
about 50 minutes to release the main and Extra draw full results, but then a further
10 minutes for the Thunderball full results. Despite this, I still beat ITV and
BBC teletext to the full results.
Performed some updates on the site (particularly manual comments) to bring
it a bit more up-to-date.
- Wednesday 3rd October
At long last, a Wednesday without Liverpool FC-related matches/Web issues,
so it was a bit more relaxing tonight and although I had to wait over an
hour for the full results, I still beat ITV and BBC teletext to them.
