- Saturday 29th December
There were a reasonable number of people in the chat room
for tonight's three draws, which went by without a hitch.
As usual, Camelot can't sort out their posterior from their
elbow when it comes to issuing the full results and were
soundly beaten by some 20 minutes by BBC teletext (and the
even more belated Thunderball results came out some 90 minutes
after the draw !). Bought two extra tickets for tonight's rollover.
- Wednesday 26th December
As might be expected, it wasn't hugely busy this evening in the
chat room - only a few hardy souls ventured forward for the
delights of the live TV show commentary and draw. Alan Dedicoat
duly completely forgot to read out the machine and ball set for
the main lottery, but at least we got the full results some
45 minutes after the draw (Camelot were beaten to them by 5 minutes
by BBC teletext as usual, ho hum).
Somewhat annoyingly, there was no main jackpot winner, which I've
now got to emerge from my Christmas cocoon (aka house) in the next
few days to buy two extra tickets for Saturday's draw...grrrr...
- Tuesday 25th December
Phoned Camelot shortly after 9.00am GMT and finally got all the full
results.
- Monday 24th December
After suffering 45 minutes of Dale Winton's pointless show, the two games
in Christmas Millionaire Maker 2001 seemed to go ahead without a hitch (even if there was
irrelevant yapping by Dale and some bloke inbetween each Game 2 ball).
There were a few die-hards in the chat room, but the worst thing about
tonight is that Camelot's phone line (and teletext too) dismally failed
to issue the full results before their human option line closed down at
10.00pm GMT.
I had to wait until BBC teletext got their act together and put the minimal
winning info up (number of jackpot winners in each game, with a £1.1m
rounded jackpot figure for Game 1), before I phoned Camelot's line and got
their recorded message with the prize amounts. Annoyingly, it didn't
include the number of winners in each category (and failed to mention the
total prize pool or ticket sales either). Still, I had what little info
I could glean up before 11.00pm GMT - I'll have to phone Camelot at 9.00am
GMT tomorrow morning to fill in the "blanks"...
Cooked up a last-minute Christmas Millionaire 2001 section (a copy of
the Big Draw 2001 section, but with some changes). I only did it so I had
a page to display the results on :-)
- Saturday 22nd December
It was fairly quiet in the chat room until just before the Thunderball
draw when a fair number of people started drifting in. No problems with
the live TV commentary or draw, but it was surprising that Eamonn Holmes
signed off the TV show by telling people about the (Wednesday) Boxing Day
show, when in fact the next draw (Christmas Millionaire Maker)
is on Monday !
We then had the usual long wait for Camelot to get their act together and
finally issue the full results and, yep, BBC teletext beat them by at least
5 minutes.
- Wednesday 19th December
Although it was relatively quiet in the chat room both during
and after the TV show and draw, it was nice to see that Camelot
finally managed to beat both ITV and BBC teletext to the full
results for the first time in what seemed like months.
- Saturday 15th December
It was fairly busy in the chat room tonight during the draws themselves,
though people fairly quickly drifted away once the numbers had come out.
As usual, Camelot took an age (about 70 minutes after the draws) to release
the few results, but BBC teletext "only" beat them by a few minutes.
- Wednesday 12th December
The lottery show neatly dovetailed into the half-time period in the 0-0
draw that Liverpool and Fulham played out tonight (I was doing the live
text comms in the official LFC chat room), but it did mean I could only
briefly visit the lottery chat room to do the live draws, which went without
a hitch (well, after I restarted the chat room server anyway...).
I phoned Camelot at about 9.50pm and they had the full results - BBC teletext
rather bizarrely only initially listed the prize amounts on their pages,
but ITV teletext had the full results when I checked. I didn't expect to
beat teletext because I couldn't phone Camelot until shortly after full
time of course.
- Monday 10th December
Spent what I consider to be an overpriced £5 on a Christmas Millionaire
Maker ticket today.
- Saturday 8th December
It was quiet in the chat room tonight until the Thunderball draw was
about to start. I had a problem hearing one of the Extra balls when it
came out, so I had to play back my video tape of the draw and correct it
a few minutes later ! Apart from that, everything went smoothly, though
predictably BBC teletext beat Camelot by over 5 minutes to the full
results for the umpteenth draw in recent weeks.
- Wednesday 5th December
There was a Champions League commentary clash tonight
as I commentated live in the official Liverpool FC chat
room (0-0 draw with AS Roma). During the second half,
I did a live update on the Web only (no lottery chat room)
and when full time came along, I phoned up Camelot, only
to predictably find out that they didn't have the full results
yet and BBC teletext did ! It took a further 10 minutes until
I managed to prise the info from their phone line, ho hum...
- Saturday 1st December
No problems with the chat room this evening, even though
the lottery show was almost half an hour later starting
than usual (new Jet Set rubbish show). Annoyingly, Camelot
was up to recent "very slow jet" behaviour as it took
about 50 minutes after the draw before it came up with the
full results (beaten by 5 minutes by BBC teletext).
