Next month: October 2007
In the meantime, you have to laugh at the Belgian official site, who were lame enough to put this on their one and only English page of the site (yes, they cut the entire site down to one page per language because of a panic about possible overloading):
"Because of the large number of surfers wanting to consult the Euro Millions website, we can only show the results of the special Euro Millions draw of Friday, 28 September 2007 from 22h50 on."
Funny then, at 23h50 Belgian time (one hour after they promised), they not only didn't have tonight's results up, but had confusingly put last week's results up instead, ho hum. If that didn't amuse you enough, they followed this up with the astounding statement:
The entire web site of the [Belgian] National Lottery will be accessible again as of Saturday night, September 29, 2007.
Yes, you read that right - they're keeping the one page site for a full 24 hours. I don't know if they sell tickets online (it would be a disaster if they shut that down for a day surely?), but even if they didn't, aren't they going a teensy bit overboard? What's wrong with putting up, say, plain text versions of their pages instead?
Anyway, at around 10.45pm BST, the Irish official site came up with the goods that confirmed that it was a "roll down" - no 5+2 winner, so the jackpot was shared amongst 14 5+1 winners (about £6.8m each). The Portuguse official site confirmed the ticket sales about 15 minutes later (4th largest ever) and then it only took a further 10 minutes for the official French site to collapse and put up a "service temporarily interrupted" message.
Surprisingly, it was indeed the French site that was the first to announce the number of winners (2) in its own country (10 minutes later, the French site collapsed again), followed by Spain (5) and even the hopeless Belgians (1). It wasn't until 11.45pm BST that the Irish site announced that 4 countries had won the 5+1 jackpot pool, so you could deduce that the UK had 6 winners from that.
Needless to say, Camelot's UK official site was dead last of all the official Euro Millions sites to put up the full results, with them incredibly turning up the next day (12.10am BST to be precise), which was totally pathetic of them considering there were 6 UK jackpot winners. At least the UK not only had more winners than any other country for the draw, but it also got a larger share of the jackpot thanks to the non-5+2 topup rules.
