What's New On These Pages: January 2009
Next month: February 2009
- Friday 30th January
Bought two more tickets online for tomorrow's main Lotto single rollover
draw.
- Wednesday 28th January
Sorted out VMware and Xcode at long last and now can create
Mac OS X binaries (so, yes, a .dmg of draw 3.10 is now available
for download). The VM is so slow, though, that I haven't bothered
with any timings for the Mac OS X platform.
- Sunday 25th January
Released version 3.10 of my "draw" simulation
software - it's now 0.34 seconds on a
quad core Linux machine and I'm struggling to get it any quicker!
I'm also a bit closer to finally being able to build it on Mac OS X
and ship binaries for that platform (thanks to VMware Server and a lot
of messing around). It's been confirmed by a third party that the
Makefile can now successfully create a .dmg binary file on the
Mac OS X platform (I don't ship it yet because I need to test it
myself first!), so we're almost there.
- Thursday 15th January
Bought two additional tickets online for Saturday's main Lotto single
rollover draw. Release version 3.00 of my "draw" simulation
software - it's now 0.36 seconds on a
quad-core Linux machine and massively improved 0.55 seconds on a quad core
Windows machine. I even ran it on an 8-core Xeon server at work and got
a frankly silly 0.15 seconds time for it, which is going to be hard to
beat!
- Sunday 11th January
Released version 2.00 of my "draw" simulation
software and got the speed below one
second for the final prizes/winners table
when running the 32-bit Linux binary on a multi-core machine. And the
good news is that there's even more speed to come in the next release!
- Thursday 8th January
Finished writing version 1.00 of my "draw" simulation software and
released
the source code and binaries (for Linux and Windows0 for it.
