- Thursday 29th April
Bought another two tickets for Saturday's Super Draw.
- Wednesday 28th April
A rather uneventful lottery night tonight as the live
TV commentary and draw in the chat room went fine. I was
the first to put up the full results again.
Oh, it was my birthday today and England drew 1-1 away
to Hungary in a soccer friendly (the match was on radio
and Sky Sports whilst the lottery draw was taking place).
- Saturday 24th April
No problems with tonight's live TV show commentary or draw
(although they had the draw almost 10 minutes before the end
of the show !). I was the fastest to put up the full results
as usual.
One of the manual comments about this draw was
interesting - the main numbers 3 and 46 both appeared for
the third consecutive draw. To be sure this was the first
time this had happened, I wrote a script to scan to the
results and check it (it turned out that there have been a few
winning number sequences like this, but never one for main
numbers).
- Wednesday 21st April
It was a little chaotic for me tonight, because I had the
radio on (to listen to the Liverpool soccer commentary,
though they abandoned it because not enough tickets were
sold !), the TV flicking between BBC 1 (lottery show of course)
and ITV (the Manchester United Champions League game, which
they won 3-2) and, of course, in two chat rooms (the Liverpool
FC and lottery ones).
Despite all this, I still managed to commentate on the lottery
TV show - not much to say (Toyah singing I'm A Mystery
isn't exactly awe-inspiring) and the live draw went fine.
I was the first to put up the full results (actually only 30
minutes after the draw, which makes a change for a Wednesday),
though I didn't have time to double-check if I beat ITV and
BBC teletext, but I probably did.
- Saturday 17th April
There were no problems during the live TV show commentary
and draw and I put the full results up before anyone else.
I tried to get info from Camelot a few times today about
the forthcoming Thunderball third UK lottery draw,
but the best I got was "early June" for its starting date.
- Wednesday 14th April
The live TV show commentary and draw went fine in the
chat room and I was the first to post up the full results
(one of the women on Camelot's phone line has a raspy
handset, making it difficult to note down the prize and
winners figures - I had to phone back a few minutes later
to verify them !).
- Saturday 10th April
No problems with the live TV show commentary and draw,
even if Brian Conley's awful caterwauling meant that they
had to put a "2 jackpot winners" caption on the screen
at the end of the show, rather than reading it out like
they usually do. I put the full results up before anyone
else.
- Wednesday 7th April
The electrical testing (see yesterday)
was completed only some 3 hours before tonight's draw,
but I had no problem doing the TV show live commentary and
draw in a reasonably busy chat room. I was the first to put
up the full results.
- Tuesday 6th April
We were incommunicado for a couple of days whilst electrical
testing took place on our intranet - in other words, several servers were
shut down, including the e-mail server. This lottery site
remained up throughout the testing though.
- Saturday 3rd April
Davis Cup tennis, which Great Britain won, caused the lottery
show to be delayed by 4 minutes (though the show sneakily
ended 3 minutes late to compensate !). The live TV show
commentary and draw went fine and I was the first to put
the full results up.
Updated the bhs system to include the year as a dynamic
pre-define, so that I don't have to change the header
files on 1st January 2000.
