Game 2
Winning years drawn at 7.56pm GMT on Monday 24th December 2001:
First year: 1986 Second year: 2773
Number of Game 2 jackpot (£1 million) winners: 7
Number of Game 2 jackpots claimed so far: 5
Notes:
- The average prize in Game 1 was £67.69.
- The machine Galahad was used in Game 1. The four machines used in
Game 2 were Lancelot (19), Guinevere (86), Arthur (27)
and Merlin (73).
- Although the TV show was an excrutiatingly long 45 minutes, the gap
of only 6 minutes between the draws was the shortest of the three annual
draws to date.
- For the third annual draw in a row, no-one actually managed to match
all five main years in Game 1,
so yet again the prize pool from that tier was added
to the highest tier that had any winners (4+bonus in this case).
- Thanks to heavier promotion (and selling tickets from November unlike
last year's
mistake of selling from December onwards), the ticket sales
rose by an impressive 52.5% this year. However, the gloomy news is that
they still failed to even reach 50% of the ticket sales of the first
annual draw.
- Camelot failed to issue all the full results by 10.00pm GMT Christmas Eve
(yes, that's over 2 hours after the draws), so the public had to wait until
9.00am GMT on Christmas Day to get the full set of results listed above !
- It's a good job that Game 2 was Lucky Dip, because if people had picked
their birth year, they'd have lost (because no-one aged 16 or over [the
minimum age to play] could have been born in 1986) - it was the highest
year that wasn't a possible birth year !
- I matched absolutely nothing in Game 1 and my two random years in Game 2 -
1943 and 2694 - also completely missed the mark.
- Prizes in Games 1 and 2 have to be claimed by 11.00pm BST on Saturday 29th
June 2002.
