Comments:

• The draw used ball set 3 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £23.57. One in every 52.5 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.91% of players).
• If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £9,583,002.
• The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 4 wins totalling £160. This is the second largest total amount that has been previously been won by a jackpot ticket.
• The main number triple 01, 04, 06 has become the only such triple to have appeared four times since the lottery began.
• The ticket 01, 04, 06, 09, 14, 38 has become the first one to win at least once in each of the 3-match, 4-match, 5-match and 5+bonus categories since the lottery began.
• I matched nothing and two numbers on my two tickets, so sending off my cheque for another year's worth of lottery subscription didn't improve my luck.
• £940,722 of unclaimed prizes (2.33% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 23rd July 1998 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
