Comments:
- The draw used ball set 6 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £26.03.
One in every 57.9 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.73% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £9,122,953.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 7 wins totalling £70.
- After appearing
for the 41st time, the number 31 is now joint top
of the main number frequency table with the number 44.
Its 49th appearance
as a winning number also puts it outright top of that frequency
table.
- The main number pair 01, 31 has now appeared 12 times,
which gives it a lead of two at the top of the main number
pairs frequency table and a lead
of three after its 14th appearance
as a winning number pair.
- Ticket sales were the worst for a Saturday
draw since way back in
December 1994 (only the second month of the lottery !).
The only Sunday draw
to date had worse ticket sales, but that was because it wasn't televised.
- One ticket combination has now
won 20 prizes since the lottery began.
- I matched nothing on my first ticket and two numbers on my second,
so a red card there for my continued failure to win.
- £1,434,705 of unclaimed prizes (3.80% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 17th December 1998 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
