Comments:

• The draw used ball set 5 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £21.46. One in every 47.8 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.09% of players).
• If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £9,292,991.
• The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 5 wins totalling £50.
• The numbers 25 and 44 are now joint top of the main number frequency table with 48 appearances each. The number 25 is now also outright top of the winning number frequency table after its 57th such appearance.
• There have been now been over 1,000 Saturday jackpot prizes since the lottery began.
• In a nicely symmetrical statistic, there have now been over 300 million prize winners in the 300 lottery draws so far (hence averaging just over 1 million winners per draw).
• One ticket combination has now won 22 prizes in the 300 draws to date.
• I matched two numbers on my first ticket and nothing on my second, so the 300th draw did me no favours.
• £1,154,520 of unclaimed prizes (3.09% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 6th May 1999 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
