The draw used ball set 4 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £41.31. One in every 76.2 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.31% of players).

If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £2,791,620.

The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 2 wins totalling £20.

The ticket sales were the worst ever for a weekend rollover draw.

I matched only one number on my third ticket and nothing on the other three tickets, continuing my terrible losing run as usual.

£426,378 of unclaimed prizes (1.14% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Friday 6th March 1998 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
