The draw used ball set 6 in the Merlin machine.
This was the 18th Super Draw and the jackpot pool was a guaranteed £1,000,000.
The range (36-12=24) of the 6 numbers was the outright smallest to date.
Ticket sales showed an astonishing increase for this draw - they rose by a record percentage and amount to exceed £2 million for the time. Two obvious factors for this of course - one is the ever-increasing unwon jackpot (over £25m of tickets sold across 18 draws and not one penny paid in prizes yet !) and the other was the £20m Super Draw for the main draw, which sucked in plenty of impulse Extra ticket purchases.
Unclaimed prizes from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 12th July 2001 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
