Comments:
- The draw used ball set 1 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £25.24.
One in every 56.2 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.78% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £8,449,304.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 5 wins totalling £50.
- The main number pair 21, 40 has now
appeared 8 times
since the lottery began, a feat only managed by 3 other such pairs to date.
- More of a surprise is that three winning number pairs
(21,40, 28, 46 and 31, 40) have now joined two others
at the top of the frequency
table
by appearing for the 10th time each.
- Continuing the theme, two more winning number triples
(09, 28, 31 and 21, 31, 40) have joined the
existing 11 other such
triples
to have appeared four times in the history of the lottery.
- One ticket combination
has now won 17 prizes in the 210 draws to date.
- Scratchcard sales suffered the second largest
percentage drop ever this week to hit their lowest full weekly sales figure
since they were launched.
- This week's Lucky Dip sales were the highest ever for a normal week.
- This was the 10th consecutive week that over £1 million of
prizes had remained unclaimed for 180 days, which has never happened before.
- I matched 2 numbers on my first ticket and one on my second,
so I lost either side of Christmas, predictably.
- £1,566,444 of unclaimed prizes (3.69% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 25th June 1998 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
