Comments:
- The draw used ball set 6 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £23.19.
One in every 84.7 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.18% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £7,277,072.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 11 wins totalling £217.
- Beating a record that had stood for 5 years and 9 months,
the sum (245) of the six main numbers was
the outright highest ever.
- When sorted in ascending order, the first number (30) was
the outright highest seen in that position since the lottery began.
- Thanks to the high numbers, the draw had the lowest number of 3-match and
total winners
ever, plus the second lowest number of 4-match winners.
Unsurprisingly, the 3-match and total prize pools were also the lowest ever.
- Ticket sales were the worst ever for any main
lottery draw, dipping below £25 million for only second time in history.
- I matched two numbers on my first ticket and nothing on my second ticket,
so I was as successful as Manchester United were this evening...
- Unclaimed prizes from this draw expired at 11.00pm BST on Monday 15th October 2001 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
