Comments:
- The draw used ball set 4 in the Merlin machine and the average main Lotto prize was £16.91.
One in every 55.5 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.80% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £8,668,747.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 10 wins totalling £100.
- Tonight's TV show unusually completely failed to mention which
machine or ball set was used (so I had to phone up Camelot to find out).
- Ticket sales were spectacularly terrible
for this draw - not only the worst sales of all time for a main lottery
draw, but also over £1m lower than the previous
record holder.
- Rather surprisingly, a draw back in April this year
actually contrived to give out less
prize money than this draw, pushing
this draw into being "only" the second worst ever as far as
total prize pools are concerned.
- I matched nothing on my first ticket and one number on my second
ticket, so no Christmas present for me, I'm afraid.
- Unclaimed prizes from this draw expired at 11.00pm BST on Monday 24th June 2002 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
