Comments:
- The draw used ball set 4 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £18.74.
One in every 63.9 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.56% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £161,614.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included no wins.
- This was the eighth time the jackpot wasn't won and no doubt Camelot are
breathing a sigh of relief because sales had flattened out after 5 "normal"
weeks.
- The number 25 joins 17, 31 and 44 at the top of the main number
frequency table with its eighth
such appearance.
- As I predicted earlier in the week, the (unwon) jackpot prize pool was
indeed about £10m and not the £8m that Camelot keep estimating
for a normal week. Camelot also seem to be underestimating
next week's jackpot pool - they initially claimed
£17m and have now revised this to £20m,
but I reckon £21m is closer to the mark. I suspect Camelot are playing
it ultra-conservative to avoid over-estimations.
- For a record fourth consecutive week, the
combined sales fell, managing
to reach their lowest level since the first week the scratchcards were
introduced.
- ITV teletext page 123 claimed on Wednesday that there have been 85
millionaires created by the lottery so far. Ahem, I make that
83 actually !
- Only one match for me this week as I keep up my 100% losing streak.
- £738,865 of unclaimed prizes (3.97% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 8th February 1996 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
