• The draw used ball set 8 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £30.64. One in every 68.1 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.47% of players).
• If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £7,038,548.
• The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included no wins.
• 5 of the 7 numbers drawn were all in the same (fifth) column of the playslip, which has never happened before.
• For the first time since the lottery started, ticket sales have dropped for the fourth consecutive week, probably due to the lack of a rollover or Super Draw. They are the worst sales figures for 11 weeks.
• It's no shock for you to learn that I matched absolutely nothing again this week.
• £650,024 of unclaimed prizes (2.28% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 1st February 1996 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
