Comments:
- The draw used ball set 2 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £34.49.
One in every 76.7 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.30% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £5,673,098.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included no wins.
- The number 39 made only its third
appearance
after having been absent for over
5 months, but it still retains its
position at the outright foot of the 6-ball and 7-ball frequency tables.
- This also left the number 3 as having the dubious
honour of not appearing as one
of the 6 main balls since the first draw of the year
(all other numbers have been drawn since then).
- Similarly, the number 21 earned the accolade of not appearing as
any of the 7 numbers drawn since the second draw
of the year, whereas all other numbers have made their appearance since
that draw 20 weeks ago.
- This draw had the joint second narrowest
range of main numbers (45-24=21) so far.
- The close grouping of 35, 36, 37 and 39 (the first time there's been
4 green main balls in a draw) probably contributed to the
lowest number of 3-match winners
for 23 weeks, which in turn helped set a record
jackpot prize pool for a normal week.
- The four green balls also boosted their
total appearances
as winning balls over the 100 mark, which was the final colour to manage this
feat.
- There are now more than 11 million
ticket combinations that have won at
least one prize in the history of the lottery and there's now only 3 ticket
combinations that have failed (even once) to match at least 2 numbers in any
of the draws so far.
- Ticket sales dropped to their
lowest level in 1996 so far.
- There have now been over 100 million lottery
prize winners to date.
- No matches on my first ticket and only one match on my second as I
continue to fail to win on my 2-ticket subscription.
- £644,693 of unclaimed prizes (2.09% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 28th November 1996 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
