Comments:

• The draw used ball set 4 in the Arthur machine and the average main Lotto prize was £22.53. One in every 44.1 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.27% of players).
• If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £5,456,803.
• The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 4 wins totalling £86.
• The number 25 has joined the number 44 at the top of the winning number frequency table by appearing as a winning number for the 54th time.
• One ticket combination has become the first to win 21 prizes in the 284 lotteries to date.
• This was only the second time that a Saturday rollover draw had ticket sales under the £60m mark (the first time this happened, a year ago, the draw wasn't televised and was postponed a day out of respect for the death of Princess Diana !).
• I matched nothing on my second and fourth tickets and only one number on each of my first and third tickets, so the fact that the TV show's computer balls failed to display live for the first time ever didn't help.
• A 5+bonus prize of £173,901 won by a ticket bought in the Workington, Cumbria area expired and was added to the Good Causes fund.
• £1,477,909 of unclaimed prizes (3.74% of the total prize pool of this week's Wednesday and Saturday draws) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 11th March 1999 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
