Comments:
- The draw used ball set 8 in the Merlin machine and the average main Lotto prize was £29.47.
One in every 65.5 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.53% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £7,741,656.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 9 wins totalling £90.
- Ticket sales were the worst ever
for a Saturday draw and since the same was true for the previous
draw (worst for a Wednesday draw ever), then
the Saturday+Wednesday ticket sales were the lowest since the
Wednesday draw began.
- As might be expected, the total prize pool was the lowest
for a Saturday draw that had at least one jackpot winner.
- Over £9 billion in prizes
have been won across all the Saturday draws to date.
- I matched nothing on my first ticket and only one number on
my second to result in £0 won by me in the first Saturday draw
of the new millennium.
- Unclaimed prizes from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 5th July 2001 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
