Comments:
- The draw used ball set 1 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £19.67.
One in every 33.2 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=3.01% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £11,182,873.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included one win of £10.
- Why so many winners ? Well, the spread of the numbers nicely lined up
entirely in columns 2 (the first time four numbers had appeared in one
playslip column)
and 3 of the playslip and no two numbers were in the same
row
- the first time either of these events (only in 2 columns and all in
different rows) have occurred, so for both to occur in the same week
is quite rare. This was absolutely perfect for the casual punter who just went
in a central line down the playslip. Of course, record sales because of the
largest rollover so far also boosted the number of winners.
- Yet another unusual event will have increased the number of winners -
32 became the first number to appear in 3
consecutive lotteries.
- As if that wasn't enough, the numbers 17, 32 and 42 also appeared in
Lottery #7.
- All of this meant the following records were broken:
- the smallest individual prizes in all categories
- the largest number of winners in all categories (and overall)
- the largest total prize money in all categories (and overall)
- the highest amount given to
Good Causes so far
- This was the first draw where more than £1 million of
prize money
remained unclaimed after 180 days.
- Only one match for me this week as I sink another £8 into the
kitty...
- £1,314,385 of unclaimed prizes (3.17% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm BST on Thursday 13th July 1995 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
