Comments:

• The draw used ball set 7 in the Guinevere machine and the average main Lotto prize was £24.83. One in every 55.3 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.81% of players).
• If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £9,988,724.
• The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 3 wins totalling £77.
• The main number 42 has failed to appear for 42 consecutive draws, which is the outright third longest such absence ever.
• The main number 01, 04, 06 triple has now appeared three times since the lottery began and has become the first such same-colour triple (white in this case) to do so.
• This was only the second time that 4 of the 6 main balls were white (and hence all less than 10).
• Ticket sales dropped for a record 6th consecutive Wednesday draw, which matches the 6-draw equivalent sequence for Saturday draws (#118-#128).
• I matched nothing and one number respectively on my two tickets, which seems to be happening with alarming regularity !
• Unclaimed prizes from this draw expired at 11.00pm BST on Monday 4th May 1998 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
