Comments:
- The draw used ball set 5 in the Lancelot machine and the average main Lotto prize was £22.18.
One in every 49.4 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=2.03% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £6,263,148.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 2 wins totalling £20.
- The number 44
made its 18th appearance as a main number (outright top of that
table) and its 21st appearance
as a winning number (joint top of that
table with the number
28, which also appeared this week).
- Conversely, the number
39 made only its fourth appearance
as a main or winning number, which still leaves it firmly anchored in the
basement.
- I matched 3 numbers this week (on my first ticket, no matches on the
second ticket) and had my sixth win of £10.
- One of the 5+bonus prizes, won by a ticket bought in Preston,
remained unclaimed for 180 days and ended up in the
Good Causes fund. The failure to claim the
£152,891 prize meant that the unclaimed prizes for this draw
were the third highest ever.
- £1,159,779 of unclaimed prizes (3.86% of the total prize pool) from this week expired at 11.00pm GMT on Thursday 13th February 1997 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
