Comments:
- The draw used ball set 4 in the Vyvyan machine and the average main Lotto prize was £26.11.
One in every 58.1 main Lotto tickets won a prize (=1.72% of players).
- If all 13,983,816 ticket combinations were additionally purchased for the main Lotto game, they would have made a loss of £9,353,629.
- The prior history of the main Lotto jackpot ticket included 14 wins totalling £256.
- The number 44 has become only the second
main number to have appeared at least 100 times (the other -
the number 38 -
is the frequency table
leader on 109
appearances.
- The rarest winning number, 13, has narrowed
the gap to the rest of the
table to ten
after its 72nd winning number appearance.
- For the second successive Wednesday,
ticket sales were the second lowest
of all time, confirming that the "Lotto" revamp has been
a failure. May 2002 now has the ignominy of having five of
the worst seven Wednesday ticket sales ever.
- This draw had the second lowest number of 5+bonus
winners of all time and it was also
the first time that a 5+bonus ticket actually won a prize of more than £1m
in a "normal" draw or a Wednesday draw.
Yes, a draw almost 3 years ago had a higher
5+bonus prize, but it was the only draw never to have
an actual 5+bonus prize-winning ticket. The 5+bonus all-time prize record
is still held by the only 5+bonus

to its prize pool, resulting in 5+bonus individual prizes of almost £2m.
- I matched one number on my first ticket and nothing on my second ticket.
The agony was increased when I discovered that a double rollover would have
meant my fifth ticket would have won £10.
- Unclaimed prizes from this draw expired at 11.00pm GMT on Monday 25th November 2002 and have been added to the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
